A bit of background
I've always had a passion for words and studied journalism and screen production at university in my home town of Brisbane. I later completed a short NCTJ newspaper journalism course here in London.
Initially my interest was in television journalism, and I worked at a community television station prior to moving abroad.
I later worked in desktop publishing, then moved into print journalism.
Before going freelance at the beginning of 2007, I was working as a staff writer at TNT magazine. In this role I wrote news and features on a variety of subjects, including lifestyle, careers and travel. I also wrote reviews on restaurants, courses and plays.
I left to pursue a freelance career, and as well as writing features, I also regularly do sub-editing and reporting shifts.
